I never had a word to name what my everyday life looked like. I just knew I liked simplifying my life and enjoying the little things. Turns out there was a name for it and it’s called “slow living” or “hygge.” I wouldn’t say I live a perfect slow living lifestyle but I do like to incorporate elements of it into my daily activities.
And I do believe it has contributed to being content with what I have (and with what I don’t have). Especially after cutting off excess baggage from previous relationships and hardships, and even things in my closet.
Here’s what I like to do in the weekend to live a slower-paced lifestyle. It’s a great way to take a step back from the grind of life. And I hope it inspires you to take a step back and slow things down too. ♥ Here’s my day in the life of slow living, hygge, or whatever you want to call it.

My Mom’s Moist Banana Bread Recipe (featured in video)
Ingredients
- 4 to 5 very ripe bananas
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup almond flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- a little less than 3/4 cup of room temperature butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp almond extract
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 /4 teaspoon banana extract
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- Optional: 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F or 175°C.
- In a large bowl, mash the bananas.
- Mix in the brown sugar, white sugar, butter, eggs, almond extract, vanilla extract, and banana extract.
- Add all-purpose flour, almond flour, baking soda, and cinnamon powder.
- Fold in the mixture, make sure not to overmix it so the banana bread will stay soft. It’s okay if there are still lumps.
- Fold in chopped walnuts or pecans.
- Grease a 26″ bundt pan or 2 loaf pans with butter.
- Add batter to your pan/s of choice.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes.
- Enjoy your banana bread! It’s really good with a side of tea. I also like to eat mine with pumpkin spread and plum schnapps ?
Slow living sounds like a lifestyle I should get on board with! We could all use a slow down (and delicious banana bread) in our lives.
I’m glad you think so too 🙂 Thanks CJ
