I recently traveled to Seoul, Korea. And yes, there are so many beautiful & delicious things to do there. And one of the things that has been at the top of my list was something that I had ALWAYS been interested in. And that is a personal color analysis.
Have you ever worn a shirt and was like “Ugh, this is not my color.” Or you saw lipstick that looks great on your friend but it doesn’t look great on you. A personal color analysis is a service where a trained consultant analyzes your skin tone, eye color, and natural hair color to determine what range or “season” of colors look best on you. That way when you wear these colors on your clothes, makeup, nails and even hair, it will look way more flattering and will even bump up your confidence because now you look that much better.
Getting a personal color analysis was a fun and educational experience. It’s changed the way I shop for clothes and has helped me feel more confident in my outfits. If you’re interested in trying it out for yourself, I highly recommend it! You never know what hidden gems might be in your colors. And maybe you’ve been wrong your whole life and it’s a complete game-changing experience. It was for me.
What is a personal color analysis?
Have you ever worn a shirt and was like “Ugh, this is not my color.” Or you saw lipstick that looks great on your friend but it doesn’t look great on you. A personal color analysis is a service where a trained consultant analyzes your skin tone, eye color, and natural hair color to determine what range or “season” of colors look best on you. That way when you wear these colors on your clothes, makeup, nails and even hair, it will look way more flattering and will even bump up your confidence because now you look that much better.
So these color groups are categorized by season: spring, summer, autumn, winter. And within each season, there are 2 color groups, one dark and one light. So in total, ther are 8 different seasons of colors and a personal color analysis determines which one of them looks best on you.
So I had my analysis done by Suzi of Meime Color Beauty. I found her on Reddit and went with her because she spoke English. And I really feel like the colors she chose for me were colors that I’d actually get complimented on throughtout my life. So I think her analysis is really spot on.

So here’s what it’s like getting my personal color analysis.
What is it like getting a personal color anaylsis? (my process)
Introduction
So Suzi started off with a quick introduction on how every person has a season of colors that brings out there best features. They also have one that emphasizes the not so good features.
But first she asked me a few questions to get an idea of how I want to appear.
What is the first impression I want to give?
How do I want to appear?
I chose calm, natural, elegant and trustworthy. And second was cute, warm, lively, and bright.
The draping starts!
So when you do the draping, you have to come in with no makeup and wear a white shirt if possible. And because my hair was colored, she covered my hair. Suzi draped various colored fabrics to see how each color affected my complexion. I think at this moment, she was trying to figure out if I was warm tone or cool tone based on whether the colors make me look healthy.
It also turns out there are colors that make me look washed out, tired and even bring out the oilyness and redness of my skin.
So if you’re wondering where she looks, she actually looks under my chin and from there she sees the reflection of the fabric on my skin and analyzes whether it’s a good match or not.
And then we go into jewelry colors to find out if I look better in gold, silver or rose gold.
She also got into colors that are too loud & bright for me that when people see me, all they’ll focus on is the color, not me.
And then she grabbed autumn mute colors.
And then summer mute colors. Then she decided it looked grey on me and washed me out. While the warm mute colors look more harmonious to my skin, lively and clear.
And then she got into dark colors that make me look old and stubborn. Which isn’t bad. It just wasn’t a look I was going for.
So she showed me my best colors, my second best colors, and my worst colors.
And then she got into different shades of whites, grays and blacks.
And then she went into which shades of neutral beige looked good on me.
Color Analysis
After the draping, she took out her questionnaire and filled out what my best colors were, where I lied on the color scale, whether I was warm or cool tone, muted or bright, light or dark grays, and light or dark neutrals. She even recommend which color looked better on me as a wedding dress.
And then we got into colors of jewelry, makeup and styles of makeup and accessories that suit me.
And then she brought out this color analysis book and show me the color palette of soft autmn which are actually colors I already gravitate to. And even gave me little card swatches that I can bring with me when I go shopping.
And then we got into hair colors and even fun colors if I wanted to do something different.
After that, she showed me how to build outfits based on my colors. And she said monochromatic outfits with soft fabrics look best on me, rather than high contrast outfits with strong patterns.
And my favorite, makeup! So we got into which makeup colors suit me best, from eyeshadows, to lipstick to blush.
Makeup Analysis
So I brought the makeup I already owned and she told me if the colors I had were suitable for me or too strong. I actually ended up giving some makeup to my sister because it suited her skin tone more. I thought we’d have the same results because we look similar but her season was deep autumn and dark winter.
And then she brought out her makeup and showed me what to buy in Korea that suits my soft autumn color.
And then we went shopping. And wow, Seoul is really the place to shop. You can get really good items and it’s afforable! And because I’m petite, I found clothes that actually fit me!
It’s a game changer!
Since getting my personal color analysis, I’ve noticed a big difference in the way I shop for clothes. I’ve become much more selective and picky about the colors I choose. I now focus on buying clothes in my recommended color palette, which makes it easier to mix and match pieces in my wardrobe because they all go well together. I also feel more confident in my outfit choices, knowing that the colors I’m wearing are enhancing my natural features. The whole session was $120.00 USD and it was so worth it.
Another benefit of getting a personal color analysis is that it’s helped me save money. Instead of buying clothes in every color of the rainbow, I now focus on investing in pieces that are in my recommended color palette. This has made my wardrobe more cohesive and streamlined. Of course, there are still some clothes outside of the soft autumn palette and I still wear them because they make me feel great.
TL;DR.
