Creating video content is fun. After posting my first YouTube video, I fell in love with the process—filming my travels, talking to the camera, finding the perfect background song, and editing everything into a cohesive story. It was a fulfilling way to share my life and help others visually.
But now, with my baby boy sitting beside me as I type, my priorities have shifted. Since becoming a mom, I’ve been more introspective about living simply and spending less time on screens—not just consuming content but creating it, too. So, I’ve decided to pause video and social media content and return to blogging.
Here are 10 reasons why I’m going back to blogging—and why you might want to as well.
1. Blogging takes less time.
Creating video content requires so much prep—writing, filming, and editing, which alone can take days. Now that my life revolves around my baby, every task takes longer. A single video can take me weeks to finish, while a blog post is much more manageable. If you’re a beginner blogger, check out my blog launch checklist here.
2. Filming takes a lot of energy.
Talking to the camera, capturing b-roll, and sometimes even re-enacting moments—it’s all about performance. As much as I try to act natural, I can’t ignore the fact that a camera is rolling. Being “on” for video takes energy that I don’t always have.
3. The algorithm chase isn’t worth it.
The bane of every creator’s existence. Writing SEO-friendly blog posts is already a challenge, but constantly coming up with trendy video content for fleeting engagement? It’s exhausting and doesn’t align with how I want to create. I’d rather create longform, evergreen content. Yes, the growth is slower but inevitably, it’s much more sustainable.
4. I feel stretched less thin.
Juggling blog posts, videos, and social media was spreading me too thin. With limited time and energy, I’d rather simplify my creative outlet and focus on one platform that truly feels right.

5. Doing less is actually more.
It’s easy to mistake being busy for being productive. But the truth is, doing less helps me focus on what truly matters. Downsizing my creative commitments has given me more clarity and purpose.
6. I’m updating my blogging course for beginners.
I’m currently reworking my online course, Bold Blogger Academy, and this return to writing allows me to test strategies firsthand while staying up to date with the latest methods. If you’re interested in starting a blog, check out my blog launch checklist below.
7. I have more time for what I love.
Knitting, photography, and simply soaking in life’s little moments—blogging gives me the freedom to step away from screens and embrace slow living. I feel more present, grounded, and at peace.

8. My blog is a reflection of my life.
Eight years ago when I started this blog (has it really been that long??), my life moved at a different pace. Creating videos made sense at the time. Now, it’s slower, more intentional. Writing feels like the perfect creative medium for this season.
9. Writing is like journaling—it’s authentic and introspective.
It allows me to process my thoughts, dive deeper into self-awareness, and express myself in the most authentic way. I like to think of writing as opening a door to access my highest self.
10. I’m returning to my roots.
Writing has always been my home base. When I first started Traveling Petite Girl, it was a blog—and that’s where I felt the most excited, the most me. Over the years, YouTube and Instagram became a big part of my journey, and I’m so grateful for the amazing community that grew from them. But my blog? That’s where my OG audience is. It’s where I have full ownership of my space, my words, and my connection with you. And that feels grounding in a way that social media never quite does.
11. It aligns with who I am right now.
As human beings, we operate like seasons. Sometimes we’re blooming and sometimes we’re in hibernation, saving our energy for the next bloom. Just like how I quit Instagram, came back, and then quit again—what doesn’t feel right now might feel right later. I’m embracing the ebb and flow of creativity. And let’s not forget the most important reason…
12. I feel like I’m truly connecting with you.
More than anything, blogging makes me feel like I’m actually talking to you—my readers. And that’s what matters most.
These are all the reasons why I’m going back to blogging, and they feel right on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. If you’re in a similar place, I hope this speaks to you, too. 💛
Best,
